Big Bossman Dies

Ray Traylor,42, known as the Big Bossman, died of a heart attack. The former prison guard originally joined WWE in 1998. In 2002, he was wrestling for Ohio Valley Wrestling, a "farm team" for the WWE.

Sting - Moment of Truth debuts Oct 12, 2004

Sting's movie comes to retailers next month. The movie tells the story of Steve Borden's tremendous career in the squared circle. Many know him as the man in the black and white makeup, who held the World Championship Wrestling title ten times. The man who beat Hulk Hogan twice. But not everyone is familiar with what happend behind the scenes.

Hardcore wrestling fans are aware, however, of his addition to prescription drugs and his marriage troubles. The movie deals with his personal woes and how he overcame them through his belief in God.

The movie features special appearances by Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, Scott Hall, Jeff Jarret, Kevin Nash and Randy Savage.

Sting plays himself in the movie. Sting as a young man is portrayed by Donnie Falgatter.

The first 200 pre-orders at the official movie website will recieve an autographed DVD.

NAW operates a wrestling school in central California. It's $1500 for 12 weeks of training, payable with an installment plan. Dante is the head trainer and is assisted by Ridiculous Mike Rayne and Bulldog Brian Raymond. All three trainers are Hart Dungeon graduates.

Dante has a martial arts background, which may appeal to many potential trainees.

On tonight's Raw, the Diva contestants were asked who they would eliminate if they had a vote. Every Diva chose Carmella DeCesare, Playmate of the Year, 2004. They all said she didn't want it as much as the others. Carmella tried hard to hide her hurt feelings, but you could see the pain in her eyes.

The audience elimined Michelle McCool. My pick, Maria Kanellis, aka Miss Outback Jack, is still in the running!

Yang, 23, was trained by Paul Orndorff. He made his pro debut in 1999 for WCW. When WWE purchased WCW, Yang was signed to a developmental deal, but was subsequently released. He then went to work for Jeff Jarrett's NWA-TNA. He is now back with WWE.

Brooke Hogan's debut CD, Brooke Hogan: This Voice, is set for a September 21st release. Her first single, "Everything to Me", will be on the radio soon and her video, with Brooke as a cheerleader, will be available.

Brooke has officially adopted her Dad's stage name of Hogan. She is no longer using Brooke Bollea.

Future of Wrestling Website Review

I spent some time on the "Future of Wrestling" website. They have a great positioning statement on their home page. In two short paragraphs, they manage to brag on themselves and let you know they have a hard nose, Mick Foley type of wrestling promotion.

Take a look at pictures of Punisher, Maximum Capacity, and Albino. They have a marketable look.


Some of the links are broken, and some of their content is old (read 2002), but they have a good layout and every major topic (merchandise, news, events, etc.) is one click away.

Cheating Death, Stealing Life: The Eddie Guerrero Story airs Wednesday, May 26th at 8 Central Standard Time. Eddie was canned from WWE for addictions, but was able to put his life back together. He is now clean and has reconciled with his wife.

John Bradshaw Layfield is now on radio. (oh joy) His show is airing Saturday mornings from 9-11 a.m. Eastern Standard time. (Though I suspect in some markets, he is probably on a tape delay.)

Diamond Dallas Page is coming out of retirement. He will be wrestling for Dusty Rhoades. He will be joining Dusty's son, Dustin Runnels, AKA Goldust.

WWE gets disgusting

Smackdown reached a new low last Thursday. Yep. A Bradshaw moment went South, literally.

Bradshaw waited at the Texas Border for undocumented workers in a skit for the WWE show. A group of actors portraying a family attempted to "sneak" across the border, but instead of finding law enforcement, they encountered a fuming Bradshaw who promptly sent them back to Mexico.

Does Bradshaw realize he will be linked to this skit for years to come and likely damage any goodwill he has among Hispanics, a group compromising a significant faction of wrestling fans. Hey, if Bradshaw's career is hurt by this, WWE can always drop him, but his wrestling persona will be damaged goods on the indy circuit.

Well, I am back. After a very long abscence from this blog, I am back with regular posts and witty, relevant comments about pro wrestling!
